Different opinions are not bad

So a post I made sharing my thoughts about AI was flagged as offensive. Really?
I feel vibe coding isn’t coding. It may help others to learn but the point is if you make something where AI does the heavy lifting how much has actually been learned? Godot is going through so much trouble right now because it’s being flooded with code submitted by people using LLMs which doesn’t work.

Apparently this community also didn’t like my support of US immigration law either.

So I’ve been trying to get Flax setup to work with Steam. There are two tools I’m aware of that are supposed to help with this:
https://github.com/FlaxEngine/OnlinePlatformSteam
https://docs.flaxengine.com/manual/scripting/tutorials/use-third-party-library.html

They don’t work out of the box. I spent all day yesterday almost getting the second option to work as the code provided does not work. I ported over the example code from Steamworks .net own site for Unity and almost got it to work. The code I have will launch the Steam overlay but the the Steam API is not initialized, which is weird. After the Steam overlay is launched no further Steam API calls can be made. And I get debug log errors telling me the Steam API is not initialized.

Flax is an amazing engine and I feel it is better than Unity but currently Steam is the de facto store for selling games, yes there are others but if we want our games to get noticed we need to sell where the gamers go to buy games.

Releasing a game on Steam without being able to connect to the Steam API makes it more difficult to program DRM to prevent someone who bought the game from just pirating it and uploading it somewhere online where anyone can just download it.

Some in this community see me as offensive, either Wojciech Figat or a moderator doesn’t want me here, as one of my posts has been flagged as being offensive. So I’ll leave. I’ll go back to Unity. Freedom of speech is important to me and I’m not going to support a Engine or any community that wants to censor me. Just because I have a different opinion doesn’t make me evil.

I won’t be making any more videos regarding the Flax engine and I’ll leave like the higher ups of this community want me to.

See yah! Goodbye!

perhaps they felt as you do, and that it’s bad to even talk about AI - video games

that the engine is about the creators, or then also that people should focus on being ’ authentic ', and then to do most of the work themselves, or that no one could support AI content that people shouldn’t even talk about that, and it’s a way of saying that everyone here is agreeing with you

:sunglasses: :beers:

note : perhaps take it easy, or wait until you have an idea of why your post was removed from the forum board, and there might be a really good explanation for that, or you’re sort of interpreting the worst, and my guess is it’s because AI is so ’ offensive ’ that people shouldn’t even talk about that, or it’s for the sake of all the artists, and hard - working coders here they removed the discussion from what could think of, etc

there’s also a chance it was just some random people here that flagged your posts, or then it got removed because of auto - filters, and that it wasn’t the people at Flax Engine that were responsible

#sry to add another reply, and however not sure if the OP could get this then

think a few weeks ago posted an image of a 3D model that sort of had ’ ample proportions ', or that perhaps was a bit raunchy for this forum at all, and that it was removed rather fast as ’ inappropriate to this community ', or at first got rather angry, and then realized it’s because they’re really good moderators

my experience is that everyone here is a bit harsh, or perhaps not the easiest to get answers from, and however that you should know if you post something that’s ’ mildly wrong ’ that’s also gonna get removed, or that they’re sort of very ’ pro ’ here, and it also helps keep the place nice for everyone, etc

hope that you stay, or perhaps just realize everyone here takes the rules very seriously, and perhaps the AI - thread was a bit off topic for this forum despite it all, or then could discourage artists from working in this amazing engine, and finally that it’s ’ divisive ’ that these new ’ do everything for you ’ programs are there, or the topic could have led to fighting also, and that imho it was a good idea to take it down because of those reasons, or not sure what you think of these response

I agree with your perspective toward the AI flooding problem, but also think it is unrelated to the immigration law (though I personally think the law makes sense a lot).

Different topics needed to be considered separately, and the censorship or oppression would match more to the branding the origin without the proofs.
