Flax doesn't work on Linux

Don’t waste your time trying to get Flax installed on Linux. I spent days trying to get it installed on Debian and Arch and can’t get it installed. Maybe if you are a Linux wizard you can do it but for most people it isn’t going to happen. The documentation is horrible. Why even bother making it run on Linux if you don’t take the time to make a simple way to install it? I don’t want to but I am going to have to go back to Unity.

Why even bother running Linux if you can’t get a simple application working.

Flax is working perfectly fine on Linux distributions that are not arcane, niche and update often, out of the box. If you cannot troubleshoot basic problems with launching an executable, you should reconsider your choice to use Linux.

You haven’t even bothered to explain what exactly is the problem here. In your other post i explained to you it’s Debian that’s the problem. I would love to but i cannot guess what problems you encountered with Arch now and if are not willing to help us, we can’t help you.

I ended up installing Linux Mint and I got something working but i am still stuck. I typed sudo /home/tom/Software/FlaxEditorLinux/Binaries/Editor/Linux/Development/./FlaxEditor -std -new -project /home/tom/test in the terminal and it started doing something until a window popped up with the message Missing .Net 8 or later SDK installation required to run Fax Editor. If I type dotnet --version it says it is installed. It put a bunch of folders in the test folder that are locked. If I double click the FlaxEditor a window pops up but I can’t do anything with it. I installed Visual Studio Code. Nothing seems to work. Unity sucks now and I will throw my computers in the trash before I use Windows.

Flax actually works quite well under Linux, apart from a few bugs. However, if you’re not familiar with Linux, you’ll need to follow the installation instructions at Editor on Linux | Flax Documentation exactly. However, it’s very easy to get started with the excellent Seed Launcher GitHub - MineBill/Seed: A cross-platform launcher for the Flax game engine.. Many thanks to MineBill for this.
