Working on NEW TUTORIALS for Flax Engine 1.11

there’s not that many good tutorials for Flax Engine yet on youtube, or then recently deleted quite a few had been working on because they weren’t good enough, and then sort of had a ’ crash ', or nearly went to the hospital, etc

have begun feeling much better, and decided to create this simple tutorial to get started, or among my errors getting started was that Flax Engine is really good for 3D FPS, and TPS, or then perhaps simple strategy games from isometric view, or want to make some better tutorials for those, and also to benefit from what have learned from all my errors

the idea is to add more tutorials from a FPS later here also, or to make something really nice for other people, and last to work on something at all for therapeutic purposes

what not sure how to create a tutorial for now

  1. to find pick upables, and sort of coins, or then power ups, and what they could be

  2. somehow to create a puzzle, or to open a door to another areas, and portals

there’s a ton of stuff to do with these ’ space ship shooters ', or then also to add more rooms, and create a bit of a story from the level design, or perhaps to fly around on an asteroid also

have added a tutorial for creating a ’ laser grav gun ’ in Flax Engine

^^ 20 min video, or a bit of it isn’t explained also

atm got very stressed from being on a game dev server, or that almost ’ crashed ’ from trying to work on too much

have these trouble, and not sure what to add to the tutorials

  1. a wall that one could shoot with the space ship, and that somehow crumbles, or ’ spawns ’ into bricks to allow more movement, and access to new rooms, or to sort of move around the level

  2. how to change the level depending on what happens in the video game from code

  3. a simple, yet powerful navigation system that uses way points that one places around the level, or then also simply raycasting to know what room the player, and then enemies are in

The first one is sadly out of reach at the current moment. Engine does not have inbuilt destruction

have a few ideas

  1. add something like hit points to a wall, and when it reaches 0 ’ despawn prefab ', or that’s somehow connected to the nodes

  2. after that spawn chunks of the removed debris from more code

  3. perhaps after 2 seconds everything is removed, or that it’s sort of of faking destruction by spawning parts of the wall after the original mesh is removed

?!??

That is a possible way to do destruction, but it is not real destruction physics.

However, it should provide results which are plausible enough.

Combined with some particles, it will look quite good. Maybe even the chunks and debris are particles too.

Need to test this someday

Btw, .3 is very easy, using splines.

Search Flax Engine Spline. There is also a spline follow tutorial

not sure when read this, or that

  1. destruction, and even RTX is on the roadmap for the engine think in 1.12, or 1.13, etc

  2. that the Flax Engine is also fixing bugs for each release, or that everyone in the community also benefits from that, and it’s not just about adding new features

  3. perhaps that the engine isn’t supposed to make more than content for how things looked when it was the PS3 - PS4, and in that case most of the program is already there, or what the engine needs is several AAA - hits running in the software, and then perhaps a better community, or sort of people that take the engine very far, and to make very cool shaders, or really start pushing the program to the limits

There lies your golden chance to make a great game with Flax

tbh think my best chance is to make demos, and tutorials for a while, or then somehow to turn that into an AAA - video game, and perhaps content that takes 30 - 60 minutes to finish

however, or despite that really want to make something cool like have seen on Playstation 4 - 5, and have really good ideas also, or sort of ’ dream video games ’ that wish to add to my portfolio

last is that there’s also more to life than game dev, or want to see my family, and then have type 1 diabetes where need to exercise quite a bit every day, or it’s a ’ balance ’ to somehow get all those things right, and that enjoy simply learning how to make content, or then also playing the latest hits on the Playstation 5 Pro, and where have saved to get one of those, etc

or that’s what call myself on the chat pages, and however atm dealing with an autism diagnosis, or that think it’s best if stay away from live chat, and tbh struggling so much with suicidality that prob. gonna talk about that spontaneously, or here there’s not really live contact

perhaps it’s better that get to making more tutorials, and the goal is to somehow make an Apache helicopter sim into a series of training - videos

sort of a total fan of the Navy SEALs, or sort of ’ that autist ', and however atm trying to feel better, or only want to focus on therapy, and then teaching people about how cool Flax Engine is, etc

think that’s enough, and have ’ crashed ’ for the last eight days to even work on something, or finally think have the right ideas to make another tutorial for all the fans of the engine

have added another tutorial, and it’s part one of adding strafe to the final theater

FLAX ENGINE TUTORIAL # 006 // adding a ’ strafe button system ', or that moves the actor to the side

it’s sadly 40 min, or was trying to code everything live so much that got stuck in several bugs, and even if have coded these functions before

know exactly what to do to fix these errors, and also want to camera to pivot in the view direction ( side to side ) to the character controller swerves a bit to get a very cool space ship effect, or then want to add

– a collapsing wall that one could shoot to move to other areas

– either a button, or simple puzzle that gives a reward, and then a power - up to speed when one gets enough coins from the levels

have decided to try and make it about a very cool spaceship similar to this one, or that of course don’t support the Sith, and something like a harsh warfare drone, or then that looks very fast, and that also makes cool turns, or somehow is ’ elite force recon ', and that could even carry nukes to shake the entire level, or get rid of all enemies on screen dot dot

or that’s gonna be the tutorial, or even if Kylo Ren was a rather severe loser, and his spaceship was very cool to look at, or sort of bad ass like a tuned up car, and it’d look very cool in 3D, or might model that for the tutorials to help add to the cool hype

another tutorial that fixes a few bugs in the strafe code, or that prob. gonna re - record later, and however for now it’s there, or to update the correct link later

it’s not the best, and that also need to be at a local game jam for most of the weekend
